Adding twine to tray handles? Yes, please! This oh-so-simple DIY adds instant pizzaz!

Materials Needed:

  • A plain wooden serving tray, cutting board, or fruit bowl with handles.
    • If you don’t have one with handles, opt for any wooden cutting board or tray and attach a set of cabinet hardware pulls to create your own handles.
  • Natural jute twine
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun (optional)

How to Create:

  1. Prep Your Piece: Start with your chosen item. Ensure it’s clean and dry.
  2. Wrap Handles with Twine: Secure one end of the twine with a small dab of hot glue if desired. Begin at one end of the handle and wrap the twine tightly around, covering any plain wood completely.
  3. Finish the Ends: Once you reach the other end, secure the twine with glue. You can embellish it further by attaching a small starfish to one end for a charming accent.

How to Create:

  1. Wrap the Holder: Start by deciding whether you want to wrap the top (neck) or the bottom of your utensil holder.
    • One option is to start by wrapping twine around the top – whether your container has a neck or not. Secure the end of the twine with a dab of hot glue and wrap tightly, working your way down until you reach the desired height. This works beautifully for decorative jars, vases, or even lidded containers like the one in the image—just lose the lid for this project.
    • If you’d rather wrap the bottom, begin at the base of the holder by securing the end of the twine with a dab of hot glue. Wrap the twine tightly around the holder, working your way up as far as you like. Use dabs of hot glue as you go to keep the twine in place.
  2. Finish with Flair: Once you’ve gotten the look your love, feel free to add a decorative touch to the end of the twine. Tie or glue on a small starfish, shell, or a piece of sea glass to dangle from the twine. You could also attach a little wooden letter of your initial for a personal twist.

This twine-wrapped holder is a simple project that can make a big impact. It’s a quick way to elevate your kitchen counter while keeping things practical.
