TWINE-WRAPPED PROJECTS
Let’s get creative with some simple DIY projects that will give your space that fresh, beachy flair you’ve been craving!
1. DIY Twine-Wrapped Handles for Cutting Board or Serving Tray/Bowl

Materials Needed:
- A plain wooden serving tray, cutting board, or fruit bowl with handles.
- If you don’t have one with handles, opt for any wooden cutting board or tray and attach a set of cabinet hardware pulls to create your own handles.
- Natural jute twine
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun (optional)
How to Create:
- Prep Your Piece: Start with your chosen item. Ensure it’s clean and dry.
- Wrap Handles with Twine: Secure one end of the twine with a small dab of hot glue if desired. Begin at one end of the handle and wrap the twine tightly around, covering any plain wood completely.
- Finish the Ends: Once you reach the other end, secure the twine with glue. You can embellish it further by attaching a small starfish to one end for a charming accent.

Visualize This: Use your newly twine-wrapped tray or cutting board to serve snacks or drinks at your next gathering. Trust me, your guests will notice the cozy, coastal touch this brings to your entertaining! These twine-wrapped projects are not just quick and budget-friendly; they’re also a fun way to personalize your kitchen. You can add as much or as little embellishment as you like.
Want to keep it simple? Just wrap and go! Feeling crafty? Toss on a starfish or some sea glass for that extra touch.
The best part? You made it yourself, and that adds a wonderful conversational piece to your home!

2. DIY Twine-Wrapped Utensil Holder

Materials Needed:
- A simple ceramic or glass canister, vase or jar
- Natural jute twine
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun (optional)
Love this idea? Keep it handy.
How to Create:
- Wrap the Holder: Start by deciding whether you want to wrap the top (neck) or the bottom of your utensil holder.
- One option is to start by wrapping twine around the top – whether your container has a neck or not. Secure the end of the twine with a dab of hot glue and wrap tightly, working your way down until you reach the desired height. This works beautifully for decorative jars, vases, or even lidded containers like the one in the image—just lose the lid for this project.
- If you’d rather wrap the bottom, begin at the base of the holder by securing the end of the twine with a dab of hot glue. Wrap the twine tightly around the holder, working your way up as far as you like. Use dabs of hot glue as you go to keep the twine in place.
- Finish with Flair: Once you’ve gotten the look your love, feel free to add a decorative touch to the end of the twine. Tie or glue on a small starfish, shell, or a piece of sea glass to dangle from the twine. You could also attach a little wooden letter of your initial for a personal twist.
This twine-wrapped holder is a simple project that can make a big impact. It’s a quick way to elevate your kitchen counter while keeping things practical.

Extra Twine Uses
But don’t stop there! Now that you have a roll of twine on hand from these projects, consider some other perfect uses:
- Gift Wrap Embellishment: Use twine to add a rustic touch to your gift-wrapping and impress your recipient! Everyone loves a pretty package, and this is an easy way to up the ante on any wrapping paper—including simple brown kraft. The twine adds that coastal vibe that ties everything together beautifully.
- Hanging Wreath: Use twine to hang a seasonal wreath, adding a touch of coastal inspiration that elevates your door or wall decor. Whether it’s a vibrant summer arrangement or a cozy autumn piece, twine evokes a perfectly imperfect, rustic finish that enhances the beauty of any wreath!
- Twine-Wrapped Cinnamon Sticks: Create a delightful smelling bundle of cinnamon sticks tied with twine for a lovely aromatic addition to your decor or as a unique gift topper.
- Place Setting Detail: Hosting a dinner? Here’s a fun tip: tie your utensils with twine at each place setting for that extra special touch!
- Wine Bottle Accent: Next time you gift a bottle of wine to a hostess, elevate the presentation by wrapping the neck with twine and adding a charming tag for a personal touch!

I hope these DIY projects inspire you to get crafty and add your own personal flair to your kitchen! Remember, decorating doesn’t have to be overwhelming—just take it one project at a time.
